Kolmet Arterial is the arterial chemical developed by Bondol to deal with bodies that have been frozen then thawed; and refrigerated. It is not unusual for frozen and refrigerated bodies to present problems to the practicing embalmer. Frozen and refrigerated tissues are frequently so altered that they are easily permeated by the injection solution. The tissues are weakened as a result of freezing and thawing and will frequently be soft and the cell contents thoroughly mixed. This will make for fast tissue changes due to autolytic acting with increased ease. The increased permeability of capillary walls will make tissue penetration easy. In general, cold storage is detrimental to a body because it makes possible the development of gross tissue changes. Because of the increased permeability of capillary walls, an arterial chemical that will exert a high osmotic pressure should be used.
In the manufacturing process salts whose ions are sufficiently large not to penetrate through the capillarymembranes, but remain within the walls and exert the necessary flow from the tissues should be incorporated in the formulation. Because of tissue break-down during thawing, there will be many amino groups in the field of reaction. These groups 'drink" or soak up a large volume of fluid. This makes it necessary to use a stronger-than-usual solution. Bondol's Kolmet Arterial, with a high index of 36, is the ideal chemical to handle these situations.
Kolmet was developed by Bondol Laboratories exclusively for frozen, refrigerated, or cold bodies. Kolmet prevents tissue distention, bleaches out discoloration, reduces penetration barriers and stops enzyme action.
General Effects:
Special formulation for cold and refrigerated bodies. Prevents tissue distention. Bleaches and reduces penetration barriers.
